Pistahan's Celebrating Heroes & Heritage Giveaway: Answer 'Who's Your Hero?' & you could win prizes worth up to $500!

This year we are "Celebrating Heroes & Heritage" at the 18th annual Pistahan Parade & Festival. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of José Rizal, a patriot and national hero of the Philippines. So we decided to give away free goodies! It's a birthday after all.
Well, it's not really free. We want you to tell us about your modern-day Filipino and Filipina Heroes by sharing a personal video, photo or commentary in the comments section of this blog post (below). And then 10 of you lucky ones each get to WIN PRIZES from our awesomely awesome sponsors.

For a chance to win one of the amazing giveaways above, here's what you need to do:
1. 'Like' the Pistahan page on Facebook

Bonus points if you do both!
AND
2. Express this sentence: "My Filipino/Filipina hero is ________ because ________"
in a short VIDEO – like 15-30 seconds (but no more than 2 minutes in length, please!)
and/or
in a PHOTO – at least one original photo by you (but no more than 3 photos if part of a series)
and/or
in a COMMENT / BLOG POST – a comment in the comments section below, or a link to your written entry (any length) hosted on your blog, website or other personal page
3. Submit your links to your entries or comments in the comments section of this blog post below.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (a.k.a. THE FINE PRINT)
1. You may use any video site (like YouTube or Facebook Videos), photo site (like Instagram or Facebook Photos), or blog site (like Tumblr of Facebook Notes) to host your entries. Just make sure that the link you submit in the comments section below is publicly accessible (i.e., not set to private / open to everyone).
2. Deadline to submit is 3:00 AM Pacific Time on Thursday, August 11, 2011.
3. You may submit up to 3 entries (1 video, 1 photo, 1 comment/post) to increase your chances of winning. But you may only win one giveaway. Don't be greedy! Spread the love!
4. We will pick 4 videos, 4 photos, and 2 written entries as winners. We are not necessarily looking for the next Scorsese or Annie Leibovitz. What's important is that you put some thought into it. Bonus points for creativity, personality and humor!
5. Winners will be notified via Facebook, Twitter or email. So include your Twitter username, email address or a link to your Facebook profile in your entry below. Winners will have 24 hours to respond. Or we choose another winner. Eh, that's life.
6. Of course we want the winners to receive their prizes at Pistahan (August 13 & 14 at Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco). But we understand if you can't be bothered -- you do not have to be at Pistahan in order to receive your prize. But wouldn't it be exciting if you were recognized on stage? Yes, it would!
7. This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only. (Sorry, international fans!) Winners will need to provide your real name, email addres, mailing address and phone number, in order to receive your prize. So if you're in hiding, you should probably stay there.
